Defect
In the engine control software used in heavy-duty trucks and buses, low-temperature correction control is inadequate. This causes cracks to form in the upper pin-bore area of the piston. Continued operation allows the cracks to propagate, damaging the piston and, in the worst case, may result in a vehicle fire.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the engine control software with the corrected program. Additionally, inspect engine oil pressure; if piston cracking is confirmed, replace the piston assembly with new parts.

状況
大型トラック・バスのエンジン制御プログラムにおいて、低温時の補正制御が不適切なため、ピストンのピン穴上部に亀裂が生じる場合がある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、当該亀裂の進展によってピストンが損傷し、最悪の場合、火災に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、エンジン制御プログラムを対策品に書換える。また、エンジンの油圧を点検し、ピストンに亀裂が生じていると判断された場合は、ピストン一式を新品に交換する。
