Defect
In the front passenger-seat dual-stage airbag inflator, moisture protection of the gas generant is inadequate. Repeated cycles of temperature and humidity variation may cause the gas generant to degrade. As a result, the inflator canister may rupture during airbag deployment.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the airbag assembly with an improved unit as a precautionary measure. Until replacement parts are available (expected in August), older-model-year vehicles will receive an interim measure: the front passenger airbag will be deactivated, and a warning indicating that the airbag is non-operational will be displayed on the passenger-side sun visor.

状況
助手席用二段展開制御式エアバッグのインフレータ(膨張装置)において、ガス発生剤の吸湿防止が不適切なため、温度および湿度変化の繰り返しによりガス発生剤が劣化することがある。このため、エアバッグ展開時にインフレータ容器が破損するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、予防的措置としてエアバッグアッセンブリを改良品と交換する。なお、交換用部品が準備できるまでの間(8月予定)、年式の古いものは暫定措置として、助手席エアバッグの機能を停止するとともに、助手席サンバイザ部に当該エアバッグが作動しない旨の警告を表示する。
