Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 2 manufacturers: Lexus & Toyota.
The Pressure control and transmission unit is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 11 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 3 Lexus notifications from 2015 in this archive. For scale, 2,765 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 3 months.
Defect
The component geometry within the hydraulic pressure control unit of the anti-lock brake system (ABS) is inadequate, causing plastic debris to be generated during press-fit assembly. This debris may become lodged in the hydraulic control valve and delay pressure regulation during ABS activation, compromising vehicle stability.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, verify the serial number of the ABS hydraulic pressure control unit and replace any affected unit with a conforming part.
