Defect

On large buses, the bracket securing the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) pipe to the engine has insufficient strength. At certain engine speed ranges, the bracket resonates and develops cracks. Continued operation allows the cracks to progress until the bracket fractures, exposing the EGR pipe to excessive vibration that causes the pipe itself to crack and leak exhaust gas. In the worst case, part of the floor may be scorched.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the affected bracket with a corrected part and replace the EGR pipe with a new unit.

状況

大型バスの原動機に取付けている排気ガス再循環(EGR)パイプの固定金具の強度が不足しているため、特定の回転域において固定金具が共振して固定金具に亀裂が入るものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると亀裂が進行し、固定金具が折損することで、EGRパイプが過大な振動により亀裂が発生し、排気ガスが漏れ、最悪の場合、床の一部が焼損するおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、当該固定金具を対策品に交換するとともに、EGRパイプを新品に交換する。
