Defect
Due to improper welding equipment settings, the welding gun failed to make correct contact with the body panel during production, leaving some weld points on the front side member incomplete. This reduces the structural strength of the side member, resulting in insufficient body rigidity to maintain occupant space during a frontal collision. In the worst case, occupants may be injured.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the affected weld locations. If incomplete welds are found, perform weld repair.
