Defect

On four-wheel-drive vehicles, the drum removal screw holes on the rear brake drums are incorrectly positioned, allowing water to enter the brake drum through those holes. When the vehicle is parked in low ambient temperatures, the intruded water may freeze inside the drum. This can cause the rear brakes to lock, preventing the tires from rotating. In the worst case, depending on road surface conditions, the vehicle may slide laterally.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the rear brake drum with a corrected part.

状況

四輪駆動車のリヤブレーキにおいて、ドラム取外し用ネジ穴の位置が不適切なため、当該ネジ穴からブレーキドラム内に水が浸入し、その状態で外気温が低い環境下に停車すると、浸入した水が凍結することがある。そのため、リヤブレーキがロックしてタイヤが回転できなくなり、最悪の場合、路面状況によっては横滑りするおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、リヤブレーキドラムを対策品に交換する。
