Defect
The welds securing the spare tire carrier hooks are improperly made, causing the welds to separate and the hooks to detach. As a result, the spare tire carrier tilts, and in the worst case, the spare tire may fall from the vehicle while in motion, creating a hazard for other traffic.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the weld condition of the hooks and re-weld any that are found to be inadequate.
