Filing in context
The A/T is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 32 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 46 Isuzu notifications from 2013 in this archive. For scale, 3,164 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 7 years.
Defect
On the automatic transmission of route buses, the return spring of the shift valve in the valve body—which controls gear position—has insufficient strength. Continued use may cause the spring to fracture, impairing gear changes. In the worst case, the transmission may become fixed in neutral, preventing the vehicle from moving.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the return spring with the corrected part.
