Defect
On transit buses with an automatic transmission, the torque converter cover flatness is out of specification. This causes some lockup clutch backing plate mounting bolts to fracture. Continued operation allows a fractured bolt to become trapped between the torque converter cover and the turbine. In the worst case, the torque converter locks up, causing an engine stall and loss of mobility.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, verify the serial numbers of the automatic transmission and torque converter. On affected units, replace the torque converter with a corrected part.

状況
路線バスの自動変速機において、トルクコンバータカバーの平面度が不適切なため、ロックアップクラッチのバッキングプレート取付けボルトが折損するものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、折損したボルトがトルクコンバータカバーとタービンとの間に挟まり、最悪の場合、トルクコンバータがロックアップした状態となり、エンストして走行できなくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、自動変速機及びトルクコンバータの製造番号を確認し、対象となるものはトルクコンバータを対策品と交換する。
