Defect
In the engines of large trucks and buses, manufacturing variation in the oil pump may cause the gear shaft to tilt. This causes wear on the gear tooth surfaces. If the vehicle continues to be operated in this condition, the gear may fracture, reducing oil pressure supplied to the engine. In the worst case, engine seizure may occur, resulting in a roadside breakdown or vehicle fire.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, measure the noise level near the oil pump. If wear on the gear tooth surfaces is determined to be present, replace the pump with a corrected part.

状況
大型トラック及びバスのエンジンにおいて、オイルポンプの製造のばらつきにより、ポンプのギヤシャフトが傾くことがある。そのため、ギヤの歯面が摩耗し、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、ギヤが破損してエンジンへの供給油圧が低下し、最悪の場合、エンジンが焼き付き路上故障や火災に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、オイルポンプ近傍の騒音値を計測し、ポンプの歯面が摩耗していると判断されたものは、対策品に交換する。
