Filing in context
The Other Equipment is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 32 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 80 Mitsubishi notifications from 2013 in this archive. For scale, 1,787 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 9 months.
Defect
On vehicles equipped with ACC (adaptive cruise control that automatically maintains following distance) and FCM (automatic emergency braking system to reduce collision severity), the ACC/FCM ECU software is inappropriate, and the following conditions may occur. While driving with ACC engaged, the system may misidentify tunnel walls or similar structures as a preceding vehicle, causing automatic braking and vehicle deceleration. Additionally, a processing error may cause the ECU to reset, generating a communication fault; when this occurs, a warning chime sounds and the information display shows "ACC Inspection," "FCM Inspection," and "ASC (Vehicle Stability Control) System Inspection," and both ACC and FCM functions are disabled.
Corrective action
Reprogram the ACC/FCM ECU software on all vehicles with the corrected version.

状況
⑤ACC(自動で車間距離を維持して先行車に追従するシステム)及びFCM(自動でブレーキをかけて衝突の被害を軽減するシステム)装着車両において、ACC/FCM ECUのプログラムが不適切なため、以下の事象が発生するおそれがある。
