Defect
On large and medium-duty buses, the piston design inside the hand control valve that activates the parking brake is inadequate. Moisture in the compressed air causes the piston to elongate, reducing the opening of the exhaust valve. This slows air discharge from the parking brake chamber, causing a delay in parking brake engagement. If the vehicle continues to be operated in this condition, the parking brake may fail to hold, and the vehicle may roll away.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, the hand control valve will be replaced with a corrected/revised part.

状況
大・中型バスにおいて、駐車ブレーキを作動させるハンドコントロールバルブ内のピストンの構造が不適切なため、圧縮空気中に含まれる水分によってピストンの全長が増大し、排気バルブの開度が小さくなる場合がある。そのため、駐車ブレーキチャンバーからの排気が遅くなり、駐車ブレーキに作動遅れが生じ、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、駐車ブレーキが効かなくなり、車両が動き出すおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、ハンドコントロールバルブを対策品に交換する。
