Defect
On heavy trucks and buses, zinc leached from the fuel hose reacts with compounds present in diesel fuel, forming deposits that cause the internal valves of the fuel injection system to seize. This produces abnormal engine noise, white smoke, and illumination of the engine control system warning light. In the worst case, the engine may fail to start or exhibit over-revving.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the fuel hose with a corrected part. Additionally, inspect the engine and replace all fuel injection system components found to be defective.

状況
大型トラック・バスにおいて、燃料ホースから溶け出した亜鉛が軽油中の成分と反応して生成された化合物によって燃料噴射装置の内部バルブが固着する場合がある。そのため、エンジンの異音、白煙の発生、エンジン制御システム異常の警告灯点灯などが生じ、最悪の場合、エンジンの始動不良や吹け上がり等に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、燃料ホースを対策品に交換する。また、エンジンを点検して燃料噴射装置に異常が認められたものは全数交換する。
