Defect

Certain connecting rod bolts inside the engine have insufficient strength. Degradation byproducts in aged engine oil may attack these bolts and cause them to fracture. A fractured bolt may damage the engine, rendering the vehicle inoperable or, in the worst case, causing a vehicle fire.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the connecting rod bolts with the corrected parts. Additionally, notify vehicle owners of the importance of performing regular engine oil changes.

状況

原動機内部のコネクティングロッド取付ボルトにおいて、強度が不足しているものがあるため、劣化したエンジンオイル中の成分の影響で当該ボルトが折損することがある。そのため、エンジンが破損して走行不能や、最悪の場合、火災に至るおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、コネクティングロッド取付ボルトを対策品と交換する。また、使用者に定期的なエンジンオイル交換の必要性について周知する。
