Defect
(1) On diesel engine-equipped vehicles, the routing instructions for the engine control wiring harness during vehicle assembly are improper, causing the wiring to contact the suspension upper link on some vehicles. Continued use in this condition damages the wiring. In the worst case, a short circuit blows the fuse, causing the engine to stall while driving with no possibility of restarting.
Corrective action
(1) On all vehicles, inspect the routing of the engine control wiring. Where incorrect routing is found, correct it to the proper path. If the wiring is damaged, repair it.
