Defect
Improper frame assembly allows the tire to contact the drag link when studless tires are fitted and the steering is turned to full lock. Continued operation under this condition causes rust and damage to develop at the contact area of the drag link.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the tires. On vehicles where tire-to-drag-link contact is possible, adjust the steering lock angle. If contact marks are found on the drag link, replace the drag link with a new part. Additionally, affix a caution label near the driver's seat on all vehicles.
