Defect
On manual transmission transfer cases, an incorrect machining program used during the manufacturing process results in certain units being produced without the oil lubrication passages machined into them. Continued use causes inadequate oil lubrication, which damages gears and related components and, in the worst case, may render the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
Machine the oil lubrication circuit on all vehicles. On vehicles with more than 10,000 km of accumulated mileage, also replace the internal components of the manual transmission.
