Defect

The corrected engine oil cooler hose supplied for recall campaign notification no. 2412 (dated November 12, 2009) has insufficient hose pull-out resistance at the connection point. Continued use may cause the hose to separate from the oil cooler connection. In the worst case, the escaping oil may contact the exhaust pipe and result in a vehicle fire.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the oil cooler hose and hose clamp with corrected parts and add a new threaded clamp. Note: Because the root cause has not yet been determined, this remedy is an interim measure. A new notification will be filed if necessary once the cause is identified.
