Defect
In the steering system intermediate shaft, the pinion shaft has not been inserted to sufficient depth, leaving it without a secure connection. As a result, the pinion shaft gradually works its way out and, in the worst case, may cause a complete loss of steering control.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the pinion shaft insertion depth. If insertion depth is insufficient, properly re-insert and assemble the shaft.
