Defect
The steering wheel mounting bolt may be improperly torqued. Road vibration can cause the bolt to loosen, producing play at the serration joint between the steering wheel and steering column. Continued use allows the serration joint to wear, increasing the play until, in the worst case, steering control is lost.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, retorque the steering wheel mounting bolt to the specified value. If the bolt has loosened and play is present, replace the steering wheel with a new unit and torque the mounting bolt to the specified value.

状況
ステアリングホイールにおいて、固定ボルトの締め付けが不適切なものがあるため、走行中の振動等により当該固定ボルトが緩んで、ステアリングホイールとステアリングコラムのセレーション勘合部でガタが発生することがある。そのまま使用を続けると、当該セレーション勘合部が摩耗してガタが更に大きくなり、最悪の場合、ハンドル操作ができなくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、当該固定ボルトを適切なトルクで締め付ける。なお、当該ボルトが緩み、ガタが発生している場合は、ステアリングホイールを新品と交換し、適切なトルクで締め付ける。
