Filing in context
This is the only filing in the archive that cites the Accessory (fan) belt as the affected component. This filing is one of 62 Nissan notifications from 2009 in this archive. For scale, 2,200 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 7 months.
Defect
On all-wheel-drive vehicles, the cord material used in the accessory drive belt is inadequate. During service, the belt may break. This causes the accessory components to lose drive, triggering a warning light. Continued use may result in engine stall and inability to restart.
