Filing in context
The Engine is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 72 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 44 Isuzu notifications from 2009 in this archive. For scale, 4,283 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 2 years and 6 months.
Defect
On large route buses equipped with CNG engines, the fuel flow adjustment screw on the gas mixer (air-fuel mixer) is improperly adjusted, causing insufficient fuel delivery relative to the incoming air volume. This results in inadequate output under high-load conditions. In the worst case, nitrogen oxide emissions may increase beyond allowable levels.
Corrective action
Adjust the gas mixer fuel flow adjustment screw on all vehicles to the specified setting.
