Defect

On the front wheel hub bearing assembly, some mounting bolts securing the bearing to the knuckle were overtorqued, causing deformation of the bearing. Continued use in this condition damages the bearing internally and produces abnormal noise while driving. In the worst case, the bearing may fracture, causing the wheel to cant and rendering the vehicle inoperable.

Corrective action

Inspect all vehicles for bearing play. If play exceeds the replacement threshold, replace the bearing with a new unit and reinstall the mounting bolts to the specified torque. If play is within the replacement threshold, reinstall the mounting bolts to the specified torque.

状況

前輪のハブベアリングにおいて、ナックルとの締結ボルトの締付力が大きいものがあり、当該ベアリングが変形しているものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、当該ベアリング内部が損傷して走行中に異音が発生し、最悪の場合、当該ベアリングが破損して車輪が傾き、走行不能に至るおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、ベアリングのがたを点検し、がたが交換基準より大きいものは、当該ベアリングを新品と交換し締結ボルトを適切な締付力で組付ける。がたが交換基準内のものは、締結ボルトを適切な締付力で再組付けする。
