Defect
During axle assembly, the lock nut securing the front wheel hub outer bearing may have been insufficiently torqued, and the grease fill quantity in the front wheel hub outer bearing and hub body may be insufficient. The resulting under-torque condition or inadequate lubrication causes the bearing to overheat and suffer damage. In the worst case, the vehicle may become inoperable or a vehicle fire may occur.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the affected bearing and replace it with a new unit if damage is found. Refill grease to the newly specified quantity. Retorque the lock nut at the affected location using the correct procedure specified in the service manual.

状況
車軸組立の際、前輪ハブ外側軸受け部のロックナット締付けが不適切なもの及び前輪ハ ブ外側軸受け部と前輪ハブ胴部のグリース充填量が不足しているものがある。そのため、 当該軸受けが締付不足または、潤滑不良により発熱、破損し、最悪の場合、走行不能また は、火災に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、当該軸受けを点検の上、軸受けに損傷の認められるものは新品に交換し、新しく 定めた規定量のグリースを再充填する。また、当該部ロックナットを整備要領に基づく正 規の方法で締付ける。
