Defect

The engine control unit's idling speed control software is defective. When the air conditioning is operating in high ambient temperatures during sustained high-speed driving, engine speed may fail to decrease promptly after the accelerator pedal is released. This reduces the negative pressure supplied to the brake booster. In the worst case, repeated brake applications under these conditions may reduce braking force.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, reprogram the engine control unit.

状況

エンジン制御コンピュータのアイドリング回転数制御プログラムが不適切なため、高外気温下でエアコンを作動させ、一定車速で高速走行を継続した場合、アクセルペダルを戻してもエンジン回転が下がりにくくなることがある。そのため、ブレーキ倍力装置に供給される負圧が不足し、最悪の場合、ブレーキ操作を繰り返し行うと、制動力が低下するおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、エンジン制御コンピュータのプログラムを書き換える。
