Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 2 manufacturers: Nissan & Nissan Diesel.
The Spring / air suspension is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 2 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 69 Nissan notifications from 2007 in this archive. For scale, 2,777 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 year and 11 months.
Defect
The shim inserted between the front axle and the right-side leaf spring to adjust cab height is of incorrect thickness, causing some vehicles to have the center pin not fully seated in the front axle. Continued use allows large road-surface inputs to shift the front axle, changing the tire angle. In the worst case, driving stability is compromised.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the right-side leaf spring shim thickness. Where the thickness exceeds the specified value, replace the center pin and shim with corrected parts.
