Defect

The hydraulic control software in the control unit governing the automatic transmission is inadequate, causing insufficient lubrication by transmission oil inside the automatic transmission. Continued use allows the pinion gear needle bearings to fail; bearing fragments become trapped between components, causing wear to surrounding parts, clogging the oil strainer, and reducing hydraulic pressure until gear changes are no longer possible. In the worst case, the vehicle becomes inoperable.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the control unit with the corrected part. Additionally, inspect the interior of the automatic transmission for heat damage; if damage is found, replace the automatic transmission with a new unit.

状況

自動変速機を制御するコントロールユニットの油圧制御プログラムが不適切なため、自動変速機内部のミッションオイルによる潤滑が不足することがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、ピニオンギヤのニードルベアリングが破損し、当該ベアリングの破片が噛み込むことにより周辺部品が摩耗して、オイルストレーナーに詰まり、油圧が低下して、変速できなくなり、最悪の場合、走行不能となるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、コントロールユニットを対策品と交換する。また、自動変速機内部の熱ダメージの有無を確認し、ダメージを受けている場合には、自動変速機を新品と交換する。
