Defect
The casting process used to manufacture the redirector unit—a recall remedy part—is improper, leaving core sand in the oil passages inside the redirector case. This results in passages that are partially blocked or undersized. Continued use causes inadequate oil lubrication inside the redirector, leading to outer bearing seizure and, in the worst case, loss of vehicle mobility.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the complete redirector assembly with a non-defective unit.

状況
リコール対策品である変向機の鋳造工程が不適切なため、変向機ケース内の油穴に中子砂が残り、一部が未貫通のもの、又は油穴が小さいものがある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、変向機内部のオイル潤滑不良によりアウターベアリングが焼き付き、最悪の場合、走行不能となるおそれがある。 (備考)本届出は平成16年10月13日付け「届出番号1261」でリコール届出したものですが、一部の対策措置部品に不具合があったため、再度対策を行うものである。
改善措置
全車両、変向機一式を良品と交換する。
