Defect
The exhaust pipe is improperly secured, allowing engine vibration to crack the pipe. Continued use may cause noise levels to exceed regulatory limits. Additionally, heat from exhaust gases may melt the insulation on nearby electrical wiring, causing a short circuit. In the worst case, the engine may be unable to restart.
Corrective action
The following corrective actions are performed according to engine type: (1) 8M2-type engine: the exhaust pipe is replaced with a corrected part and additional support brackets are installed to secure the pipe. (2) 8DC-type engine: the exhaust pipe and muffler are replaced with corrected parts. Because full supply of corrected parts requires additional time, an interim measure is applied: the exhaust pipe is inspected for cracks, and any unit found cracked is immediately replaced with a corrected part. Units with no cracks are scheduled for replacement when corrected parts become available.

状況
排気管の固定方法が不適切なため、エンジンの振動により排気管に亀裂が発生するものが ある。そのため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、騒音レベルが規制値を超える、また は排気ガスの熱により周囲の電気配線の被覆が溶損し、電気配線がショートして、最悪の 場合、エンジンが再始動できなくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
エンジンの型式により次の対策を行なう。 ①８Ｍ２型エンジン：排気管を対策品と交換し、排気管を固定する支持金具を追加する。 ②８ＤＣ型エンジン：排気管及び消音器を対策品と交換する。 なお対策品の全数供給に時間を要するため、当面の暫定措置として、当該排気管の亀裂有 無をチェックし、異常のあるものは対策品と交換する。異常がないものは後日対策品と交 換する。
