Filing in context
This is the only filing in the archive that cites the Fuel system (other) as the affected component. This filing is one of 150 Mitsubishi notifications from 2004 in this archive. For scale, 4,554 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 2 months.
Defect
On vehicles converted from gasoline fuel systems to liquefied petroleum gas specification, the material and shape of the filter cup clamping bolts fitted to the solenoid valve or emergency shutoff valve in the fuel line are incorrect, providing insufficient strength relative to the specified tightening torque. Continued use in this condition may cause the bolt to fracture in the worst case, allowing gas to leak.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the filter cup clamping bolts with the correct parts.
