Defect

On some vehicles, clearance between the interior wiring and the glove box mounting bracket is insufficient. Vibration during driving causes the wiring to contact the bracket edge, damaging the insulation. In the worst case, the wiring short-circuits, blowing a fuse and causing a no-start condition or wiper malfunction.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, apply protective tape to the edge of the glove box mounting bracket. For both conditions (1111221 and 1111222), inspect the wiring; repair any damaged sections where repair is possible, and replace with new wiring where repair is not possible.
