Defect

The pressure-relief valve integrated into the fuel filler cap is partially defective in design, causing the valve to lose its airtight seal during continued use. In the worst case, fuel may leak through the pressure-relief valve. In addition, the weld position of the guide inside the fuel filler neck is improper on some units, so installing the corrected filler cap may fail to achieve an airtight seal with the filler neck, also allowing fuel to leak. (Note: This notification is a re-filing of Notification No. 659, originally submitted on August 22, 2000 and amended on September 7, 2000. A portion of the replacement parts supplied under that recall were found to be incorrect parts; this re-filing implements the corrective action.)

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the pressure-relief valve and replace any filler cap not already fitted with the corrected valve with the revised part. Inspect the position of the guide inside the filler neck; replace any filler neck found to be improperly positioned with the corrected part.

状況

燃料注入口の減圧弁付燃料フィラーキャップにおいて、減圧弁の構造に一部不適切なもの があるため、そのままの状態で使用を続けると、減圧弁の気密性が損なわれ、最悪の場合 、当該減圧弁よりより燃料が漏れるおそれがある。また、燃料注入口(フィラーネック) 内ガイドの溶接位置に一部不適切なものがあるため、対策弁付のフィラーキャップを装着 すると、フィラーネックとの気密が確保出来なくなるものがあり、燃料が漏れるおそれが ある。 (備考) 本届出は、平成12年8月22日リコール届出を行い、平成12年9月7日にリコール届出変更を 行った「届出659」において、不具合に対する改善措置用部品の一部に異品が混入したた め、再度届出を行い対策を実施するものである。

改善措置

全車両、減圧弁を点検し、対策弁付のフィラーキャップに交換されていないものについて はフィラーキャップを対策品に交換する。また、燃料注入口内ガイドの位置を点検し、当 該位置が不適切なものは、フィラーネックを対策品に交換する。
