Defect

In the engine fuel injection system, the bracket securing the accelerator lever return spring has insufficient strength. Repeated extended operation at high engine speeds may, in the worst case, cause the bracket to fracture. If this occurs, the accelerator lever may not return to the idle position, causing engine speed to rise uncontrolled.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the affected bracket with a corrected part.
