Defect
In the automatic transmission used in front-wheel-drive vehicles, certain internal components were machined improperly during the manufacturing process. Continued use allows hydraulic fluid to leak from the reverse gear control circuit. In the worst case, the vehicle may become unable to move in reverse.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the automatic transmission with a corrected unit.
