Defect
The torque converter cover of the automatic transmission is improperly machined. Continued operation causes wear on the bearing that supports the torque converter, degrading its sealing performance and resulting in an oil leak. In the worst case, the vehicle may become inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the affected automatic transmission with a conforming unit.
