Defect
On certain vehicles, the turn signal and related switch unit below the steering column was installed out of its correct position. During steering operation, the electrical wiring of the switch unit may detach and, in the worst case, cause a short circuit leading to a vehicle fire.
Corrective action
Inspect the installation condition of the switch unit on all vehicles. Replace any incorrectly installed switch unit with a new part.
