Issue

The plastic bracket inside the fuel pump is made of an incorrect material. Prolonged exposure to the test fluid used during manufacturing causes the bracket to swell in service and contact the impeller. Continued operation increases resistance at the contact point, and in the worst case, wear debris generated at the contact point becomes lodged between the bracket and the impeller, causing the fuel pump to stop. This stalls the engine and prevents restart.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, replace the fuel pump unit with a corrected part.

状況

燃料ポンプ内の樹脂製ブラケットの材質が不適切なため、製造時に使用した試験油に長期間浸漬されると、使用過程において、当該ブラケットが膨張し、インペラと干渉することがある。そのため、そのまま使用を続けると、干渉部の抵抗が大きくなり、最悪の場合、干渉部から生じた磨耗粉がブラケットとインペラ間に噛み込むと、燃料ポンプが停止してエンストし、再始動できなくなるおそれがある。

改善措置

全車両、燃料ポンプユニットを対策品と交換する。
