Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 3 manufacturers: Daihatsu, Subaru & Toyota.
This filing is one of 8 Daihatsu notifications from 2022 in this archive. For scale, 261 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 year and 8 months.
Issue
On the camera used for the pre-collision safety system (Smart Assist), the adhesive bonding process for the camera mounting bracket to the windshield glass was not properly controlled during manufacturing, resulting in insufficient bond strength on some units. As a result, the bracket may detach during use and, in the worst case, fall off while the vehicle is in motion.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, an adhesive reinforcement material is added to the camera bracket.
