Filing in context
The Airbag is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 225 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 33 Isuzu notifications from 2014 in this archive. For scale, 2,428 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 1 month.
Issue
In the SRS control unit installed on light- and medium-duty trucks, the fault diagnosis control during engine start is incorrect. When the ignition is turned on, electrical noise may resonate with the output signal from the acceleration sensor. The SRS control unit interprets this resonance as an acceleration sensor fault, illuminating the warning lamp. As a result, the airbag may not deploy in a collision, compromising occupant protection.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the SRS control unit with a corrected part.
