Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 2 manufacturers: Isuzu & Nissan.
The Seats is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 4 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 35 Isuzu notifications from 2006 in this archive. For scale, 1,734 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 6 years and 7 months.
Issue
On the auxiliary seats of the microbus, the hinge pin that serves as the pivot for seat folding is improperly attached to the seat cushion bracket. Repeated folding operations cause the hinge pin to shift, allowing the cotter pin that retains the hinge pin to contact the seat cushion frame. Continued repeated folding may fracture the cotter pin and, in the worst case, allow the hinge pin to pull free, causing the auxiliary seat to tilt.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the hinge pin installation method. Where the installation is improper, remove the resin collar and replace the hinge pin with the corrected part.
