Issue
The rod of the open stay that holds the power-operated tailgate open has a sharp-edged scratch on some vehicles. Repeated opening and closing of the tailgate damages the rubber gas-chamber seal inside the open stay, allowing the pressurized gas to gradually leak and reducing the stay's holding force. Because the power tailgate control unit lacks a failsafe mechanism for this failure mode, the tailgate may descend when electrically opened.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the power tailgate control unit with a corrected part.

状況
電動開閉式テールゲートを保持するオープンステーのロッドに鋭角な傷がついたものが あり、テールゲートの開閉を繰り返し行うと、オープンステー内のガス室用ゴム製シール に傷がつき、充填されたガスが徐々に漏れて保持力を失うものがある。そのため、電動で テールゲートを開けると、故障時のフェールセーフ機構がないため、テールゲートが降下 するおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、電動開閉式テールゲートコントロールユニットを対策品に交換する。
