Defect
During frame welding, inadequate instructions for spatter removal (metallic particles generated during welding that adhere to the frame) allowed spatter to remain in the routing area of the main harness. The harness contacts the spatter, and with continued use, the wire insulation wears through and the bare conductor is exposed, causing a short circuit. This may result in malfunction of the headlights, turn signals, speedometer, and other systems, or render the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the main harness for damage and add protective material (grommets, etc.). If the main harness is found to be damaged, replace it with the corrected part. Note: Because procurement of replacement main harnesses requires additional time, affected owners will be contacted again once parts are available.

状況
電気配線において、フレーム溶接時のスパッタ除去指示が不適切なため、メインハーネスの通線部にスパッタ※が残留しているものがある。そのため、当該ハーネスがスパッタと干渉し、そのまま使用を続けると、電線の被覆が摩耗し、芯線が露出して短絡すると、前照灯、方向指示器、速度計等の作動不良や走行不能となるおそれがある。 ※溶接作業中に発生した金属粒子等がフレームに付着したもの
改善措置
全車両、メインハーネスの損傷を点検し保護材(グロメット等)を追加する。また、メインハーネスが損傷している場合は対策品と交換する。なお、メインハーネスの準備に時間を要することから、準備が整い次第、改めて連絡する。
