Overview
| MLIT filing number | 1233151 |
|---|---|
| Type | Statutory Recall (government-mandated recall) |
| Date filed | November 4, 2021 |
| Manufacturer(s) | Honda |
| Component | Turn signal indicators |
| Production period | November 14, 2019 — December 23, 2020 |
| Vehicles affected | 1,622 units |
Defect
The turn signal switch contacts are manufactured under inadequate process controls, causing arc discharge to occur during switch operation. The resulting metallic particle deposits bridge the fixed contacts, generating heat that melts the contact base retaining the fixed contacts. In the worst case, the contacts fail to conduct and the turn signals stop operating.
Corrective action
Replace the turn signal switch on all vehicles (applicable to both conditions ① and ②) with a conforming unit.
