Defect
Investigation of field-returned units from certain driver-side SRS airbag inflators revealed significant variation in the density of the gas-generating propellant. Although the root cause has not been determined, there is concern that the airbag may not deploy normally during a deployment event. As a precautionary measure, the affected inflators are to be replaced with new units.
Corrective action
As a precautionary measure on all affected vehicles, the driver-side SRS airbag inflator is included under notification number Foreign-2173, dated May 14, 2015. Inflators are to be replaced with new units progressively, beginning with the oldest vehicles, and retrieved units are subject to root-cause investigation.

状況
特定タイプの運転者席側SRSエアバッグのインフレータ(膨張装置)において、市場回収品を調査した結果、ガス発生剤の密度にばらつきが大きいものを確認した。このため、原因は判明していないが、エアバッグ展開時に正常に展開しないおそれがあることから、予防的措置として当該インフレータを新品に交換する。
改善措置
全車両、予防的措置として、平成27年5月14日付け、届出番号「外-2173」に含め、運転者席側SRSエアバッグインフレータを年式の古いものから新品と順次交換、回収して原因調査を実施する。
