Defect
During the manufacturing process, some steering gear assemblies were built without the pinion shaft bearing installed. Without the bearing, the pinion shaft is not properly retained. In the worst case, the pinion shaft may disengage, resulting in loss of steering control.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, inspect the pinion shaft. Any unit found to be missing the bearing is to have the complete steering gear assembly replaced with a conforming unit.

状況
かじ取り装置のステアリングギヤにおいて、製造工程でピニオンシャフトのベアリングが組みつけられていないものがある。そのため、ピニオンシャフトが確実に保持されず、最悪の場合、ピニオンシャフトが抜けて、操舵が出来なくなるおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、当該ピニオンシャフトを点検し、ベアリングが欠品しているものはステアリングギヤ一式を良品と交換する。
