Defect
The fuel return pipe attached to the fuel pump is incorrectly sized, leaving insufficient clearance between the pipe and the pump case. When the engine is shut off with a low fuel level and high evaporation conditions, the fuel tank contracts, causing the tip of the return pipe to contact the pump case. If the engine is then started in this condition, pressure builds inside the fuel return line and fuel leaks from the line connections. In the worst case, a vehicle fire may result.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, the fuel pump will be replaced with a conforming unit.

状況
燃料装置において、燃料ポンプに取り付けられている燃料リターンパイプの長さが不適 切なため、ポンプケースとの隙間が不十分となり、燃料残量が少なく蒸発量の多い状態で 原動機を停止させると、燃料タンクが収縮して当該パイプの先端がポンプケースと干渉し 、その状態で原動機を始動すると燃料リターン配管内の圧力が上がり、当該配管の接続部 から燃料が漏れ、最悪の場合、火災に至るおそれがある。
改善措置
全車両、燃料ポンプを良品と交換する。
