Filing in context
The Computer is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 42 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 41 Mitsubishi notifications from 2024 in this archive. For scale, 922 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 2 years and 5 months.
Defect
In the combination meter, the control program is incorrect. When the vehicle is started or the engine is started, the warning display duration alerting the driver that a rear-seat occupant's seat belt is unfastened may fail to meet the display time required by law. As a result, the vehicle does not conform to Safety Standards Article 22-3 (Seat Belts, etc.).
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the meter ECU control program to the corrected specification, or replace the combination meter with the corrected part. Additionally, explain to owners that the corrected software changes the seat belt warning display duration and warning lamp activation conditions, and distribute an in-vehicle reference instruction sheet.
