Filing in context
The Rear-View Mirror is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 8 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 41 Mitsubishi notifications from 2024 in this archive. For scale, 936 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 2 years and 5 months.
Defect
In the navigation system, an incorrect control program may cause the LCD display to go black or freeze when specific operations are performed. When this occurs, the camera image used for forward and left-side proximity confirmation is not displayed, causing the vehicle to fall out of conformance with Safety Standards Article 44 (Rear-View Mirror Requirements). Additionally, the rear camera image may fail to display during reversing, and on certain vehicles this may cause non-conformance with Safety Standards Article 44-2 (Rear Proximity Confirmation Device Requirements).
Corrective action
On all vehicles, reprogram the navigation system control program to the corrected specification.
