Filing in context
This notification is a joint filing by 2 manufacturers: Mitsubishi & Nissan.
The Propeller Shaft is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 52 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 41 Mitsubishi notifications from 2024 in this archive. For scale, 969 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles; the vehicles involved here were manufactured over a span of about 11 years and 7 months.
Defect
On the propeller shaft, insufficient press-fit depth of the universal joint into the shaft pipe results in inadequate strength at that joint. During vehicle use, cracks may develop at the affected area. In the worst case, the propeller shaft may fracture and leave the vehicle inoperable.
Corrective action
On all vehicles, replace the propeller shaft with a corrected part.
