Filing in context

The ABS is the most frequently cited component category in this archive, appearing in 30 of its 4,890 filings. This filing is one of 22 Mazda notifications from 2023 in this archive. For scale, 2,950 of the 4,890 filings in this archive report a larger number of affected vehicles.

Defect

During vehicle assembly, the bolt securing the harness bracket to the steering knuckle on the front ABS sensor was improperly assembled and may not have been tightened to the specified torque. Continued use may cause the bolt to disengage. In the worst case, the harness contacts the tire or other components and sustains damage, illuminating the ABS warning light and the TCS/DSC indicator, and causing the EPB indicator to flash. Simultaneously, the ABS, TCS, DSC, and EPB systems deactivate, and the advanced driver assistance systems also cease to operate.

Corrective action

On all vehicles, inspect the condition of the bolt and tighten to the specified torque. If the bolt has fallen out, replace the front ABS sensor assembly with a new unit and install a new bolt.
